Success? Just Be It.

When I was in school there was always one question I dreaded being asked. “What does success mean to you?” That’s one question that stumbled me every time because first of all what is success. Is there a right or wrong answer? I would always overthink it. If I said the wrong answer then I’ll never be successful. If I said the right answer but my life wasn’t in align then, still, I’d never be successful.
Ask me what success meant me 5 years ago and I’d say it is growing up in a two parent household, college degrees, promotions, and living in a nice neighborhood all while being able to afford whatever you want. Basically work hard and you’ll be successful.
Ask me what success means to me now and I’d say it’s being authentic, enforcing boundaries, being self aware, choosing peace over pressure, and feeling at home within myself no matter my surroundings. Basically things that I can cultivate. A way of being. I don't think success is linear. I think success are milestones to the bigger picture.
It’s amazing how much my definition has changed over the years. Growth!
Now let me ask you, What does success mean to you now vs. 5 years ago?
